The course consists of a four-week work placement at a location relevant to the profile of the Bachelor in Theology program that the student belongs to. In connection with the placement, the student writes a term paper discussing issues and theory relevant to the experience.
The core of the course is a four-week internship placement. The placement must allow the student to explore tasks particularly relevant to his or her specialization. The student writes a term paper reflecting on the relationship between issues and experiences from the field and relevant theory. The semester begins with an introductory session (mandatory, held digitally unless otherwise decided). The placement and topic are determined in dialogue with the student. The placement must have an approved supervisor. Once the placement is set, the student is assigned an academic supervisor to help select literature, formulate a topic, and draft a project description (approx. 1 hour of supervision). A mandatory seminar is held before the submission deadline, and the supervisor is available for 1 hour of individual guidance toward the end of the writing process. The seminar may be digital or physical depending on student numbers and campus affiliation.
Approximately 300 hours.
The following must be approved before submitting the term paper:
- Selected literature (approx. 500 pages) related both to internship placement and paper (approved by course coordinator based on supervisor’s recommendation)
- Topic and brief project description including methodology (approved by course coordinator)
- Completed placement with at least 80% attendance (approved by course coordinator based on supervisor’s recommendation)
- Participation in seminar with presentation of at least 3 pages and peer feedback (approved by course coordinator). Peer feedback may be waived for practical reasons.
One additional attempt is allowed per written requirement if not initially approved.
Approved/not approved
