Book Launch: Society and interaction under pressure
The academic anthology Society and Interaction Under Pressure: Implications for Educational Practice and Theory (edited by Glenn-Egil Torgersen, Herner Sæverot, and Linnéa Jermstad) offers new perspectives and findings on what happens when various types of pressure impact the concept of interaction in the sectors of childhood education, kindergartens, schools, secondary education, child welfare, and in educational research and higher education.
The question posed is whether this pressure has already triggered ripple effects in terms of how interaction occurs in schools, upbringing, education, and research, and, importantly, in how these professions are managed and led.
The book is the result of a major foundational research and interaction project involving 40 prominent researchers from 15 research and educational institutions in Norway, the UK, and the US. The primary research question has been:
There is much to suggest that society and interaction are under pressure: What is the nature of this pressure, and what implications does it have for educational practice and theory?
The research is documented in 35 studies (600 pages), with concrete examples from the school, upbringing, and education sectors. The book is therefore relevant to anyone working in educational fields and addressing challenges related to interaction, both in practice and as a phenomenon and concept. The book is available via Open Access and at Cappelen Damm Research.
