Procreation and Promise in Luther's Lectures in Genesis
This paper argues that procreation occupies a far more central place in Martin Luther’s interpretation of Genesis than scholars have generally recognized. Rather than treating procreation merely as a topic within marriage ethics, Luther presents it as a theological lens through which Christians learn to perceive God’s ongoing creative activity, the preservation of the church, and the unfolding of the promise of Christ.
