(Publisert i Zootaxa 5351 (5): 595–600)
Recently, the type material of Plecia borussica that was believed to be lost could be rediscovered in the collections of the Geoscience Museum at the University of Göttingen by one of the authors (A.G.). This species is similar to Plecia hoffeinsorum Skartveit, 2009, differing mainly in the shape of the male gonostylus and the colour of the mesonotum. In the present paper the species is redescribed and a lectotype is established.
