Research in Culture and Pedagogy

Advancing Inquiry into Formation through Culture and Pedagogy.

RECAP, both a name and a method, suggests returning, reflecting, and drawing connections across time and disciplines. Our research opens spaces for deeper understanding of culture and pedagogy and how their practice and interpretation contribute to the formation of individuals and society.

This group brings together researchers in the social sciences and humanities from disciplines such as pedagogy, religion, music, and leadership. Members engage with topics ranging from the ongoing relevance of ancient texts and material objects to contemporary questions of teaching, learning and cultural formation.

Projects focus on innovation in higher education, inclusive learning environments, the role of artificial intelligence in teaching and formation, and how disciplinary traditions are reshaped through contemporary challenges. The group contributes to national and international academic debates and is active in both scholarly publishing and public discourse.

RECAP leads and participates in research projects funded by the European Union (Erasmus + Teacher Academies), the Research Council of Norway (under review), and the Ministry of Education and Research (Universell). This research activity reflects the group’s strong track record in cross-sector academic collaboration.

RECAP’s activities find their home in two subgroups with complementary goals. One subgroup, called Rethinking Culture, investigates the interplay between the production of knowledge, pedagogical practice, and use of technologies in the formation and development of cultural artifacts and institutions. A second subgroup, titled Pedagogy for the Unforeseen focuses on how pedagogy can prepare educational institutions and society at large for handling unforeseen developments.
