Exam

• The deadline to request justification for written exams is within one week of the grade being given.
• The deadline to request justification for practical skills is immediately after the grade has been communicated.
• If you want to appeal a grade, you must do so within three weeks of the grade being announced.
• If you have requested justification, the deadline to appeal is three weeks after the justification has been given.

How to request justification?

• You request justification in Studentweb. The justification will be available in the same place within two weeks.

How to appeal a grade?

• You appeal a grade in Studentweb.
• It usually takes up to three months to get a response to the appeal.
• If, after appealing a grade, you receive a grade that differs by two or more from the grade in the original assessment, the exam will be reassessed before a grade is set.
• There is an individual right to appeal in group exams. Any change of grade after an appeal will only apply to those who have appealed the grade.

Exceptions:

• You cannot appeal a grade in a practical or oral exam. Practical and oral exams are not verifiable to the same extent as a written exam.

Completing a group exam requires students to collaborate on solving the assignment and organizing the work.

The course syllabus indicates whether the process is also included in the assessment, or whether only the final result is emphasized during grading.

Collaboration in the group

• All participants in the group contribute to a common product.
• The group must organize who does what, when, and how. The starting point is that everyone should contribute equally.
• Everyone in the group must participate in both planning and implementation.
• If a member of the group is unable to meet a deadline that the group as a community has agreed upon, the member must notify the others in the group as soon as possible.
• If collaboration problems arise in the group that cannot be resolved, or that hinder implementation, the group should contact the teacher.

The teacher's follow-up of the group work

• The teacher determines how the groups will be put together, and how many students there will be in each group.
• The teacher informs about the time when the exam work starts. This is especially important in cases where the group work has started before the exam period starts.
• The teacher can intervene if the group is in danger of not being able to complete the task. If there is conflict in the group, the teacher can, for example, divide groups or move participants to another group.
• If a conflict arises that cannot be resolved, the teacher must contact the department for study administration.

Routine in case of doubt about participation in the group exam

• If a group dissolves, a student can submit alone if there is only one left in the group.
• If there is doubt as to whether one or more have contributed sufficiently to a common product, the assessment can be changed from a collective grade for the group to individual grades for all members of the group.
• If there is agreement that one or more members of a group are not contributing sufficiently, they may receive the result "not met" and must retake the exam.

You normally have three attempts for each exam. If you do not attend the exam and have not unsubscribed before the deadline, the attempt will be counted.

For master's theses, there are only two attempts.

Errors in exam execution or assessment only affect the assessment if the error may have affected the student's performance or the assessment thereof.

Examples of formal errors:

• Received incorrect exam paper
• Given too little time for preparation or examination
• Sensor is disqualified

The deadline for complaining about formal errors is three weeks after you are or should be aware of what you wish to complain about.

Complaints submitted after the deadline will be rejected.

Case processing of complaints about formal errors

NLA University College first assesses whether errors have been made that may have affected your result.

If such an error is found, your grade on the exam will be annulled, and the error will be corrected:

• In some cases, a new assessment may correct the error.
• In other cases, you will have to retake the exam.

If you do not succeed with the complaint, the complaint will automatically proceed to final processing in the Student Affairs Committee.

• If the committee upholds that formal errors have been committed, your grade shall be annulled, and the error corrected as described above.
